Emo’s Celebrates 15 Years
It’s hard to believe that it has been 15 years, and not to indicate how young I am, but I remember when Emo’s opened. It was a big deal back in the day, a sizable club dedicated to bringing us the bands that we loved and creating a community where most of us felt at home with our people and our music. I still spend a quite a bit of my time at Emo’s these days, as they continue to bring us the best in local as well as up and coming touring acts. Emo’s continues to grow as it has taken up most of the block at Red River and Sixth by adding Emo’s Lounge last year making it a 3 stage venue. A week long celebration is in effect, and you can expect that Emo’s will be bringing you the best of the variety of genres that they book all during this week. Recently announced surprise guest Ghostland Observatory will be taking the stage on Wednesday, Canada’s The Stills entertain on Sunday, and Saturday night features locals Shearwater who recently celebrated the re-release of Palo Santo on Matador Records. Check the Emo’s site for a full listing of celebrationatory live music taking place during the celebration.
