Scratching your musical itch

Live: Manchester Orchestra @ The Parish 6.11

One of my favorite young hard working bands as of lately Manchester Orchestra, made their way through my fine city for what has to be the 4th or 5th time this year, as they continue their year of relentless touring. As I have to come to enjoy the recording I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child this second experience of seeing them live only secures my love for the live show that these guys produce. With merch hand Spencer added as third guitarist for this current tour, the boys roared through a quick but powerfully moving set showcasing selections from the current release and personal favs ‘Wolves at Night’, ‘Now That you’re Home’, ‘Golden Ticket’, and the deeply moving, show ending ‘Where Have You Been’. Frontman Andy Hull choosing to spend little time engaging in between song banter, reserves his energy and focus for pouring out his soul across the sonic landscape provided by the band. It’s hard to deny the passion and honesty with which this band delivers their music, and each member is obviously devoted the the music and the lyrics that make their way through each piece. I may sound if I am repeating myself, but the second time to see this band was no less impressive than the first, and as these guys are operating as the opening band currently, soon enough they’ll be shining as the main attraction, and I’m looking forward to following them on this current journey of success.

Plenty of opportunity presenting itself for you to see these guys live, and if for some reason you can’t make it out to one of their many live performances, you can catch them on a little show called Late Night With David Letterman. Look for the announcement of a date for the performance. Well done boys, and well deserved.
Future Festival dates at Bonnaroo, Leads, Reading, and ACL, plus a current tour opening for Mewithoutyou, and I believe some plans to tour with Colour Revolt as well. Busy, busy, busy.

Check out Youtube.com for podcasts from the band shot while traveling on the road and a quick fan video from the Austin show follows.
