Live: The Hold Steady @ Emo’s 6.8

The Hold Steady write songs about characters that could come straight off of the pages of a comic book filled with your favorite real person heroes that hang out in bars, kiss girls in the back seats of cars, indulge in illegal occasionally, and hang out at killer parties with their friends late into the night. Growing up the Hold Steady way is way too familiar for kids of all ages in this here USA, and the band brought the good ol’ Midwestern influenced style of post punk straight forward rock to Emo’s, much to the delight of many in the crowd. It was nice to be surrounded by a crowd varied in age for a change at Emo’s tonite, and from the comfort of the side stage I soaked up the rock and thought back to the days when I would have relished taking part in the sweat soaked, packed like sardines, sing-a-long taking place in the crowd tonight. The kids, of all ages mind you, love their Hold Steady, and pumping fists and emptied lungs were solid proof on this terribly hot and humid night in Austin, Tx.

If you harbor any liking for The Hold Steady, and they are coming to your town, don’t deny yourself the good time sure to be had. They’ll be heading across the pond after a date at Bonnaroo, and then back on American soil for a handful of dates including Lollapalooza.
Enjoy some cool pics and some mp3s.
