Touring Partners Love To Admire Icky
It’s nice to see the pairings of bands that promise plenty of bang for your buck. Maybe that’s the ploy, better opening bands for more money being charged, or maybe it’s a way for the labels to combat the drop in cd sales by pushing the bands out on the road more? Either way, it works for me. The recent announcements of a couple of these pairings has a put a smile on my face, if not for the simple fact that I admire the work of all of the artists involved and the shows should prove to be some of the more talked about this summer tour season.
NY offers up a pairing from it’s fine city with Interpol bringing along slow burners Calla for a stretch of some their tour dates. Interpol is awaiting the release of ‘Our Love to Admire’ coming legal 7.10.07
Indie favs Cold War kids have landed themselves on one of the biggest stages for this summer while warming up the crowds for The White Stripes who have ‘Icky Thump’ thumping 6.19. Heard word is that this Icky Thump may be their best work as of yet.
We’ll have our opportunity to see The White Stripes at this years ACL Festival in September.
