Sunday 11.4 – Stage 1B – 2:10-2:40

The Seattle area continues to produce great bands, and The Cave Singers are one of the newest additions to that growing list. The band recently released their debut album on Matador Records, Invitation Songs, and have been touring recently in support of the work. Although new in name, the members have been involved in making music for years. Pete Quirk (Hint Hint), Derek Fudesco (Murder City Devils and Pretty Girls Make Graves), and Marty Lund (Cobra High) make up the band The Cave Singers, and if you are familiar with the work of any of these guys previous bands, the collection of songs you’ll find on the recent release Invitation Songs might not be what you expect. With a solid background in post-punk indie rock, the modern folk music fueled with a punk rock attitude that members in The Cave Singers are now producing is a curiously refreshing change. This seemingly new twist on the traditional folk sound might have you scratching your head at first, but time spent with the sounds of The Cave Singers will be time well spent with a rewarding batch of hypnotic breezy tunes, simple and beautiful all at once.

The Cave Singers take Stage 1B early on Sunday, 2:10 to be exact, and you’ll be kindly rewarded for checking out the performance, if my recent experience with the band is of any indication.
