For those of you who haven’t kept notice, Austin’s Ghostland Observatory have been (as the kids would say) blowin up over the last year, and as one would think, major labels have been knocking on their door. The duo of Thomas Turner and Aaron Behrens have managed to release their first two efforts on their own Trashy Moped label, promote themselves, manage themselves, and distribute the recordings themselves. Thomas reports that they have met with every major label, weighed all of their options, and in the end, they felt like they had nothing to gain by signing on with any of them. Word is that they were even approached by legendary producer Rick Rubin.
The bands upcoming release Robotique Majestique, to be released in February with help from distributor ADA in a deal with the company to help with the release. The band spent time working on a bigger sound for this upcoming release also having it professionally mastered unlike the two previous recordings.
Ghostland is playing Stubb’s inside on Tuesday evening for a benefit for the DinoLAND exhibit. The show is sold out. You can find tickets on Craigslist going for anywhere between $65 and $85 dollars. It’s nice to know that folks are using a benefit show to benefit their own bank account.

They rock, dude.
