I stopped paying attention to the Grammys years ago about the time when Jethro Tull won it’s Grammy in the Heavy Metal category over Metallica in 1989. Not that I’m a Metallica fan by any means, but Jethro Tull? Ian Anderson plays a friggin flute! What’s Heavy Metal about a flute? Fast forward to 2007 and it appears that the fine folks over at the Grammys have started to take notice at what is going on this music scene these days. Notable nominations in a variety of categories includes Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, Foo Fighters, Feist, Shiny Toy Guns, among others. Amy Winehouse, as expected, is all over the nominations list, and if anyone has read any of the latest reports, it’s almost tragic how someone so talented and on the verge of huge success, be in such bad shape. I used to poke fun, but now only hope she gets her shit together.

I give the Grammys some cred, but they ain’t no Plug Awards. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite Plug Awards nominees.
