I’ve got it on good recommendation that this show might be something that you pencil in for a visit on Friday night. I’m new to both Low Line Caller and Flat People, but have spent some time with Doug Burr’s latest release On Promenade, and it has slowly been creeping more and more into my conscious. Hints of paying homage to songwriters like Tweedy, Farrar, Kozelek, and even Young, this recording quietly spins with a hiss of dark, delicate beauty which unfolds into a unique piece of acoustic and mildly sonic songs. Ties with one of my new favorite bands Monahans in sharing partners in the making of the record, tempt even more. Get there early for Doug Burr, as he kicks of the evening of entertainment.

Low Line Caller, from Austin, gets high accolades from folks around, and as a 6 piece set with two drummers, one could only expect something of interest. The sounds take me back to a time long ago when bands like OMD, Echo and The Bunnymen, New Order ruled the alternative rock scene, while not sounding like these bands, just purely conveying the atmosphere of creativity and newness that they produced.

Low Line Caller closes out the evening with Flat People trying to manage the middle spot and working the transition between two interesting and differently exciting bands.
