Recommended: Dead Confederate @ Mohawk Sunday 1.20

Athens, GA’s Dead Confederate arrive in town this weekend to start the recording to their self-titled EP with local producer Mike McCarthy. The band will be playing live in Austin for the first time ever on Sunday 1.20 @ The Mohawk with The Tunnels and Christian Bland (Black Angels). Admittedly, I’ve been a bit hung up on this band as of recent, ever since I caught wind of the heavy sweeping hypnotic southern psychedelic rock sounds via the fine folks over at KEXP in Seattle, and the opportunity to see the live show has just about arrived. I have high expectations for this show, as from what I’ve heard, is to be experienced.
KEXP’s John Richards on Dead Confederate live:
“Its so good…SO good, one of those jaw dropping live bands…”
Recent Earfarm post about the band:
Well, if you read EAR FARM with any regularity then you already know the answer. Last month we picked the band as one of the Top Ten Bands To Watch Out For in 2008 – now that we’re nine days into 2008, it’s high time we go ahead an reinforce our belief that Dead Confederate is simply one of the top up and coming bands in the US. Want proof? Read more and listen below, OR just watch the people go crazy for them at South by Southwest in March. At this point I’m simply assuming they’ll be there; after all, this is a band that’s bound to find their way onto a memorable lineup in Austin and thus end up on more than a couple of lists of “top acts seen at SxSW ‘08″.
Our friends over @ Switchburn are going to be there filming the show, so bring all of your friends for what I expect to be one kick ass show. This will be a little belated Birthday Celebration for myself, so I hope to see some friendly faces there.
C’mon…have I ever steered you wrong before?
The band will be here for SXSW 2008 and I promise that they will be making an impact, with some cool stuff lined up for the Festival.
