Listening Party! Austinist & 4AD Present: St Vincent & Camera Obscura

Our friends over @ the Austinist and 4AD have put together a listening party this coming Tue 5/5 @ Mohawk. Listen to the upcoming releases from St. Vincent and Camera Obscura starting @ 5 p.m. for FREE. There are a lot worse ways to spend your Tuesday evening, other than hanging out with good friends, sharing a cool beverage, and listening to some new tunes.

The St. Vincent release Actor is sees daylight May 5th, and for those of you who have fallen victim to the spell of Annie Clark aka “St. Vincent”, Actor will only tighten the grip that this talented and beautiful songstress may have on you. Actor doesn’t stray far from it’s predecessor Marry Me but only secures Clark as the woman that men secretly want and women might want be like. Sexy, witty, sharp, talented, and sometimes dangerous.  Favorite tracks currently: “Actor Out of Work”, “Laughing With A Mouthful Of Blood”, and “The Bed”.

Have I mentioned what a HUGE crush I have on this woman? She makes me weak in the knees.

Camera Obscura‘s My Maudlin Career dropped recently, but if you aren’t familiar with the band or the album, now’s the time to check it out. I honestly don’t know much about the band other than I’m kinda diggin these tracks off of the album, “The Sweetest Thing” and “James”.  The band will be making a stop here in Austin @ Antone’s on June 15th.

Three Nights In July = Spoon(full) Festival?

Just in case you have missed it, local indie-rockers gone international stars, Spoon are playing 3 nights @ Stubbs in July. There’s some speculation that this is a festival to be played out annually, but only time will tell. Either way, it’s sure to be 3 nights that will find the band exploring their extensive catalog of hits, should be hits, and all of our personal favorites. And if there’s one local, indie rock band that has 3 nights of quality material to keep you humming and singing along, it’s these guys.

July 11th – w/Strange Boys and Atlas Sound  Tickets

Some personal favs:
