Scratching your musical itch

Itch Pick: Constantines @ Emo’s 6.6

The Constantines are not new to the scene, nor should they really need much introduction. Why more people aren’t paying attention to this band is a bit beyond. Maybe we’ve found ourselves too caught up in the herd mentality of the current digital online music media machine, which has managed to ignore or put aside many of the real “rock” bands that are standing fast and hard in their art these days. Maybe it’s best that too many people not know of the divine pleasures that some of these bands deliver, in fear that our sacred ground be stomped on by the herd.

The Constantines are guitars, drums, more guitars, and real life lyrical stories being told on stage through the art of rock ‘n’ roll. No fancy bells or whistles, just…rock, detailing the everyday experiences of the human mind and soul.

Hailing from Canada, the band makes it down to our area on few occassions. Even more reason to pencil in this show for your Saturday night.

I plead my case:

MP3> The Constantines ‘Shine A Light’

MP3> The Constantines ‘I Will Not Sing A Hateful Song’

I think that this might just be real, real, real…f***ing good!
