Kurt Cobain About A Son Trailer
About A Son is set to open in New York on October 3rd, and what I have read and what little I have seen, peaks some serious in me about this film. A brief description of the film from the official website, and if you click the photo, you’ll arrive to the trailer spot. Beautifully shot, with the voice of Kurt serving as your guide into the mind of one of the greatest artists of our time. It’s going to be moving I’m sure.
No commentsKURT COBAIN ABOUT A SON
An intimate and moving meditation on the late musician and artist Kurt Cobain, based on more than 25 hours of previously unheard audiotaped interviews conducted with Cobain by noted music journalist Michael Azerrad for his book “Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana.” In the film, Kurt Cobain recounts his own life – from his childhood and adolescence to his days of musical discovery and later dealings with explosive fame – and offers often piercing insights into his life, music, and times. The conversations heard in the film have never before been made public and they reveal a highly personal portrait of an artist much discussed but not particularly well understood.
Thanks For The Reminder: The Mighty Lemon Drops
Both Stereogum and Subterranean blog sites run a regular post that points back in time to a band and a video that you may have forgotten about, but just might enjoy the memory jolt. Sometimes the video and/or the band is a lost memory that you would prefer to stay that way, but today was the case of “thanks for the memory”. I have to say that I had a soft spot once for the Mighty Lemon Drops, even saw them perform live a couple of times. With that being said, thanks to Subterranean for this video moment that started my day off with a smile and some toe tappin.
Well, the video code from Subterrannean isn’t working so here is a lesser quality YouTube version.

The mighty Coachella Festival is just around the corner, and as music lovers around the globe set their sites on California and head for the polo field grounds in Indio, there are those who won’t be making the trek. Of course you’ll be able to catch up via your favorite bloggers, and there will be tons of posts hitting the pages for weeks to follow, but you can always tune in this weekend and catch the live webcast of highlights of the festival. With much anticipated performances by the Jesus and Mary Chain as well as the reunited Rage Against the Machine, we hope that AT&T has the right mind to capture these for those tuning in for the webcast.
You can see it here: AT&T Blue Room
Go here for a copy of the scheduled performances so that you might tune in and hope to find your favorite band being captured live by those folks at the AT&T Blue Room.

hot!
The Bjork camp seems to be a hustle of activity these days as they are getting creative with ideas while giving you the opportunity to get your creative itch on as well. With a schedule full of festival dates, at which most she will be considered the headlining act, an appearance on tomorrows SNL, and a new studio album hitting the shelves/itunes stores soon, the Icelandic Princess is employing you to show off your video making skills. A competition of sorts, as Bjork herself will decide which video idea and maker she is going to work with for completing said project. Of course, this means you get to preview the song Innocence for the video competition before it is release on the upcoming recording Volta, so that’s one perk right out of the gate.
Here is where the full list of details are Innocence Video Competition

Roky Erickson Career Resurgence

Austin’s own Roky Erickson, of the 13 Floor Elevators, is seeing his career come to light once again, much like another local Texas resident Daniel Johnston, both of which have suffered years of mental illness which removed them from the musical spotlight in which they once shined. The Kevin McAlester directed documentary You’re Gonna Miss Me documenting the troubled and most interesting life of Roky Erickson, will hit NYC theatres June 8th with the DVD coming available July 10th. The documentary which came to light in 2005 seems to be coming to life after garnering several awards and being recently nominated for 2007′s Independent Spirit Awards’ Best Documentary, and is enjoying the spotlight as Roky himself will be doing for the next couple of months.
If you aren’t familiar with his work with the 13th Floor Elevators, who many will claim that they are the pioneers and major influences on the psychedelic rock scene, you surely are familiar with long lasting effects of their influence. 1990 saw the release of Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye on which R.E.M. , the Jesus and Mary Chain, the Butthole Surfers, Primal Scream, Sister Double Happiness, ZZ Top, amongst others covered 13th Floor Elevator songs.

High Line Festival Lineup Announced

Seems a little late in the game, but the lineup for the David Bowie curated High Line Festival taking place in New York May 9th – 19th, has been released. Early reports about the festival claimed that Bowie himself would be taking the stage for a performance, and after reviewing the website, sonic itch music doesn’t believe this to be the case. What a shame.
check the website for details: High Line Festival
on a side note: who designed this image?? does Bowie know that his face is stuck in the middle of a graphic straight out of Miami Vice??
